11th package of sanctions may appear within two months, - Morawiecki

Poland expects that the European Union will introduce new sanctions against Russia within the next two months.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said this in an interview with the RMF FM radio station, Censor.NET reports.

He was asked whether "the European sanctions machine has slowed down". Morawiecki answered that no, although in the EU there is a certain fatigue with this topic and "today there is really much less desire and appetite for further sanctions." However, he believes that the subject of sanctions will return to the agenda in the near future.

"I am extremely concerned that the existing restrictions are often circumvented. We need to work not only on new sanctions, but also on strengthening the old ones," Morawiecki emphasized.

In this situation, Poland acts in two directions: it points out to the European Commission the loopholes used by the Russian Federation to circumvent sanctions, and it also raises the issue of the next packages.

Moravetskyi expressed hope that the new package will include points that Poland insisted on when approving the tenth package of sanctions. We are talking about sanctions against those responsible for the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to the Russian Federation, against the import of Russian diamonds, Russia's nuclear sector, and Russian propagandists.

Earlier, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stated that the EU is currently working on the 11th package of sanctions. Its main goal is the fight against circumvention of import restrictions. We will also remind you that the EU is actively working on strengthening control over re-exports to Russia.
