Blowing up HPP is terrible. City is flooding, - mayor of Nova Kakhovka, Kovalenko

Nova Kakhovka is flooded as a result of the occupiers undermining the dam of the Kakhovka HPP.
This was announced by the mayor of the city, Volodymyr Kovalenko, Censor.NET informs with reference to Ukrainian Pravda.
"The explosion is terrible because it affected not only the roadway, the dam, unfortunately, the Kakhovka HPP itself, i.e. the engine room, was blown up. The destruction is man-made - the volume of water is sufficiently large at the moment to fall," he said.
According to the mayor, as of 6:30 a.m., the "Kazkova Dibrova" zoo, the summer theater, water reached the Shevchenko monument, flooded cafes, and a children's playground in the city.
The boat station and the yacht club were also flooded, and the water reached Dnipro Prospekt.
Kovalenko says that it is difficult to get information from the city. After all, there are interruptions with the Internet. He believes that it was the Russians who started jamming the signal so that people would remain in an information vacuum.
The mayor also added that the Kakhovka HPP has not been producing electricity in recent months.
As Censor.NET reported, on the morning of June 6, it became known that the Russian occupiers blew up the Kakhovka HPP. As a result of the explosion, the engine room was completely destroyed, the station cannot be restored.
Evacuation has begun in the region. 80 settlements can be flooded. In total, 16,000 people are in the critical zone on the right bank of the Dnipro.
The explosion of the Kakhovka HPP threatens the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station, but the situation is now under control.
President Volodymyr Zelensky initiated an emergency meeting of the National Security Council.
