As a result of the detonation of the engine room from the inside, the Kakhovka HPP was completely destroyed. The station cannot be restored.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press center of "Ukrhydroenergo".
According to the preliminary forecast, the reservoir is expected to be operational within the next 4 days.
As of 9:00 a.m. on June 6, the water level in the Kakhovka Reservoir is rapidly decreasing, the evacuation of the population from potential flooding areas has begun.
"The uncontrolled lowering of the reservoir level is an additional threat to the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP.
Water from the Kakhovsky Reservoir is necessary for the station to receive power for turbine capacitors and safety systems of the ZNPP. Now the station cooling pond is full. The Ukrainian staff of ZNPP monitors all indicators," the message says.
"Ukrhydroenergo" is currently continuing to analyze the situation, our experts are working on clarifying the scale of destruction, speed, and volume of water. Information will be updated promptly.
As Censor.NET reported, on the morning of June 6, it became known that the Russian occupiers blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP. According to Kherson RMA, the water will reach a critical level in 5 hours after the detonation. Evacuation has begun in the region. Nova Kakhovka is already being flooded. In Kherson, the Korabel micro district has been cut off, and the gas supply will be cut off in a few hours. In the Kherson region, units of the National Police and the State Emergency Service were alerted.
President Volodymyr Zelensky initiated an emergency meeting of the National Security Council.
According to "Energoatom", undermining the Kakhovka HPP with rockets may have negative consequences for the ZNPP, but the situation is under control.
