Russians tried to gain foothold in Kupiansk during fog, they were destroyed - AFU
The Russian occupiers tried to advance to the boundaries of Kupyansk's residential area but were destroyed.
This was stated by Yurii Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles battalion of the 92nd separate assault brigade named after Ivan Sirko, Censor.NET reports with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, the Russians, taking advantage of the fog, advanced close to residential areas, but they were detected in time. At first, the Defense Forces hit the enemy's armored vehicles - a tank and 2 armored personnel carriers. Then, over the course of several hours, they finished off the infantrymen.
"Those who managed to rush out were also eliminated within the next 5-6 hours. As of today, there is no enemy in Kupiansk-Left Bank. The situation is very complicated, but the Defense Forces control it," said Fedorenko.
The commander noted that the Russians failed to capture Kupiansk by November 1 and now expect to do so at least by the New Year.
"Every day and every night there is fierce resistance because the enemy is trying to accomplish the task. Initially, it was supposed to capture Kupyansk-Vuzlovyi and Kupyansk-Livoberezhne by November 1. Now the deadlines have been shifted, the enemy has not fulfilled this task, and now they have to complete the task by the New Year," he summarized.
On November 13, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that in the afternoon, the Russian army tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian forces in the Kupiansk direction, some of them wearing Ukrainian Armed Forces uniforms.
According to DeepState, a column of Russian armored vehicles broke through to Kupiansk.
