The head of the European Union's diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, reacted to the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria. She sees this as a weakness of Assad's supporters - Russia and Syria.

Callas wrote about this on the social network X, Censor.NET reports.

"The end of Assad's dictatorship is a positive and long-awaited event. It also shows the weakness of Assad's supporters, Russia and Iran," the top diplomat said.

According to her, the EU's current priority is to ensure security in the region.

"I will work with all constructive partners in Syria and in the region. I am in close contact with ministers from the region. The process of rebuilding Syria will be long and difficult, and all parties must be ready to engage constructively," the EU foreign policy chief wrote.

On November 28, after four years of relative calm, fighting between Bashar al-Assad's forces and opposition groups resumed with renewed vigor on the outskirts of Aleppo.

"Hayat Tahrir al-Sham announced a large-scale military operation against government forces. During the operation, they claimed to have captured over 400 square kilometers of territory, including strategically important areas.
