Suspended sentence, UAH 20 million to state budget, UAH 2 million to Armed Forces: SAPO on court verdict in case of "servant of people" Kormyshkina
A verdict has been delivered in the case of illicit enrichment of former "Servant of the People" MP Iryna Kormyshkina and her husband Yurii Kormyshkin.
This was reported by the SAPO in its telegram channel, Censor.NET informs.
"On 21 March 2025, the HACC approved the plea agreement concluded between the SAPO prosecutor and the former MP and her husband, a former deputy of the regional council," the statement said.
What was the court's verdict?
In accordance with the agreement, the court found the former MP guilty of committing crimes under Part 2 of Art. 366-2, Part 1 of Art. 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and her husband - under Part 2 of Art. 209, Part 2 of Art. 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The court sentenced the former MP to 5 years' imprisonment with a fine of 4,000 tax-free minimum incomes (UAH 68,000), with disqualification to hold positions related to the performance of state or local government functions for a period of 2 years.
Her husband was sentenced to 5 years' imprisonment with a fine of UAH 68,000, with disqualification to hold positions related to the performance of state or local government functions for 2 years.
Probationary period set
At the same time, pursuant to Article 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the court released these individuals from serving their main sentence of imprisonment with suspended sentence, setting a probationary period of 2 years.
The former MP also undertakes to transfer UAH 20 million to the state budget. In addition, the defendants must transfer UAH 2 million to the needs of the Armed Forces.
It is noted that the verdict may be appealed within 30 days from the date of its pronouncement by filing a complaint with the HACC Appeals Chamber.
The case of the "servant of the people" Kormyshkina
As a reminder, in November 2022, a case was opened against Kormyshkina, a "servant of the people" who received UAH 20 million and a valuable watch. As reported at the time, the MP received UAH 14.4 million as a gift. Prior to that, she received another UAH 5.3 million and a Swiss watch worth UAH 310,000 inlaid with 11 white diamonds. The donor was her father, but open data does not show that he had no official income of this amount.
On 17 October 2024, the SAPO served the MP with a notice of suspicion.
On 23 October 2024, the HACC imposed a measure of restraint in the form of a personal guarantee. The guarantors were the head of the "Servant of the People" faction, David Arakhamia, and the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim.
In January 2025, the HACC imposed a measure of restraint on the husband of "servant of the people" Kormyshkina in the case of illegal enrichment - UAH 15 million bail and procedural obligations.
