Russia has sent oil tanker to Cuba: 700,000 barrels have been delivered, - Reuters

A Russian oil tanker has begun unloading crude oil at the port of Matanzas in Cuba. This is the first major shipment of energy resources to the island since the restrictions imposed by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
This was reported by Reuters, according to Censor.NET, citing Ukrinform.
First details
As reported, the Russian-flagged vessel "Anatoly Kolodkin" delivered approximately 700,000 barrels of oil and docked on Tuesday at the country's largest fuel terminal.
The U.S. stated that it had authorized the oil shipment on humanitarian grounds amid a severe energy crisis in Cuba, which has been accompanied by prolonged power outages and problems in transportation and the healthcare system.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel noted that the country had not received any oil tankers for three months.
The Kremlin stated that Moscow would continue to work to support Cuba, while the Trump administration announced that future oil shipments would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
What preceded it?
Trump had previously stated that the U.S. has no objection to Russia supplying oil to Cuba.
Trump on Cuba
- Recall that at the end of February 2026, Trump hinted at the possibility of a "friendly" takeover of Cuba, without specifying details.
- In March, after the start of the operation in Iran, Trump said that Cuba could be next.
- Later, the US leader said that Cuba allegedly faces a choice between two scenarios: agree to a "friendly takeover" or face an "unfriendly" option, adding that the difference between them, in his words, is not fundamental.
