US on Russian strike on Pryluky: Trump wants to resolve war and "stop senseless killings"

White House responds to Russian missile attack on Pryluky

US President Donald Trump's administration has responded to Russia's missile attack on Pryluky in Chernihiv region, where 22 people, including five children, were killed on October 7.

This was reported by Voice of America, which contacted the White House for comment on the October 7 strike on Pryluky, Censor.NET reports.

US response

A White House representative told the outlet that US President Trump wants the war to be resolved so that "the senseless killings stop."

"The United States continues to seek to play a constructive role by engaging with both sides and working to end the war," the Trump administration representative said.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters that efforts to achieve peace were not moving in a constructive direction: "Of course, we are following developments and can see that, at present, the situation is not moving in that direction."

"Right now, when it comes to Ukraine, we are focused on ending the conflict, if possible. The enormous loss of life is deeply regrettable. If we can play any role in ending this war, we would like to play a constructive role," the top US diplomat stated.

European response

Some European leaders also expressed support for Ukraine on October 7 amid new Russian attacks.

"The criminals in the Kremlin decided to give Putin a 'birthday present' — a massive attack on Ukraine targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure. Russia is a terrorist state that does not abide by international law or any law," Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys wrote on X.

EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernová addressed the Russian dictator with these words:

"Mr Putin, is this what you wanted for your birthday? People killed in their sleep, injured children, damaged homes?"
