Two minors have been detained in Poltava after attempting to blow up Ukrainian soldiers on behalf of the Russian Federation.
This was reported by the SSU press service, according to Censor.NET.
Details
It is known that the teenagers had manufactured explosives intended to be planted under a military vehicle. Russian special services then planned to remotely detonate the bomb as Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers approached the booby-trapped vehicle.
The SSU foiled the enemy’s plans in time and detained the youths in a hotel room where they were preparing the explosives.
Who was working for the enemy?
"The Russian Federation’s order was carried out by two 16-year-old local residents who came to the occupiers’ attention on Telegram channels while searching for ‘easy money’."
After that, the agents received instructions from their Russian handler on how to make a homemade bomb using improvised materials.
The next step was for the suspects to identify the parking location of a military vehicle and ‘coordinate’ this with a Russian intelligence officer," the statement said.
During searches, explosives prepared for the attack and smartphones containing evidence of the crimes were seized from them.
Both have now been notified of suspicion of:
- Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 258 (preparation for a terrorist act committed by a group of persons acting in concert);
- Part 2 of Article 194 (intentional destruction or damage to property).
The suspects face up to 12 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property.
