Former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, who is suspected of laundering more than $112 million, considers the bail of 425 million hryvnias to be a sentence.

"The amount of bail is a sentence. I will spend years in a detention center because I don't have that kind of money, and neither do my entourage," said the former minister.

According to Halushchenko, he needed to travel to Switzerland to see his child.

"If I wanted to flee, I would have fled," he commented on his arrest on a train while attempting to leave the country.
