The main reasons for the abnormal triggering of 120-mm mines are violations of their storage conditions.

This was stated by Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, People`s Deputy from the Servant of the People party, Censor.NET reports citing Suspilne.

The parliamentarian confirmed the detection of a number of abnormal mine triggers supplied by certain manufacturers for the security and defense sector.

"An interdepartmental commission was formed, which included representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Strategic Industry, and representatives of the security and defense sector. The commission found out the reasons. The relevant report of this commission was sent to the Committee on National Security and Development. I cannot disclose details, but in general, it was found that the main reasons are lower temperatures and high humidity. In dry weather, these mines did not malfunction," Venislavskyi explained.

According to the People`s Deputy, all the mines from the batch were recalled to the factory and the manufacturer has undertaken to supply new mines in the near future to replace the seized ones and they "will undergo a thorough additional examination."

"I will not name the number of mines. These are all mines from the batch that had abnormal triggering. The number is classified information. The company is already fulfilling its obligations to replace these mines," the deputy said.

At the same time, it is the job of law enforcement agencies to determine whether this is an offense, he emphasized.

According to him, there are no systemic problems with ammunition.

"There are a number of factors related to manufacturing and storage conditions. All these reasons are in the commission's report. There are no systemic problems with this situation, but in the future more attention will be paid to checking the quality of mines, conditions of manufacture, storage and use," explained Venislavsky.

The incidents of unexploded mines began in November, he added.
