2 missiles and 79 out of 128 "Shaheds" destroyed. 49 drones - location lost, - Air Force
On the night of 6 January 2025, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with two Kh-59 guided aerial missiles from the south and 128 Shahed-type strike UAVs and various types of imitation drones.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press centre of the Air Force Command.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
What did our air defence manage to shoot down?
According to the Air Force, as of 09.00, two Kh-59 guided aerial missiles, as well as 79 "Shahed" attack UAVs and other types of drones were confirmed downed in Mykolaiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad and Vinnytsia regions. No hits were recorded.
It is also noted that 49 enemy imitator drones were lost locally (without negative consequences).
Consequences
The fall of downed enemy drones caused damage to enterprises, institutions and private homes in Chernihiv, Sumy, Cherkasy, Poltava and Kyiv regions. Preliminary, there were no casualties.
"As of 8.30 a.m., new groups of enemy UAVs are coming in from the north. Take care of yourself, follow the safety requirements!" the Air Force emphasises.
Drone attack on the night of 6 January, 2025
As reported, on the evening of 5 January, Russians launched attack drones in Ukraine. Censor.NET also reported that the railway contact network was damaged in the Kyiv region. Train traffic is open.
As a reminder, at night, the "Shaheds" also attacked Cherkasy region. Houses and a grain hangar were damaged.
