Myla explosions: Hundreds of forensic examinations still required

The investigation into the explosions in the village of Myla in the Kyiv region is complex and requires considerable time. Further procedural decisions concerning those responsible for the tragedy may follow once forensic examinations have been completed.

He said this during a meeting with journalists, Censor.NET reports.

"Criminal proceedings are underway. Everyone is monitoring this case: the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation and the Prosecutor General’s Office," he said.

According to him, numerous investigative steps are required, including determining the extent of the damage.

"Two months is not a long time for proceedings like these. Hundreds of forensic examinations alone are needed to determine the extent of the damage, the number of victims, who was responsible, and who was in charge of storage. This is a very complex case," the acting prosecutor general added.

"We need to understand certain things: Russia is the cause of this. I really do not want us to shift all the responsibility onto those people who are actually trying to keep our country standing and defend it.

Where there has been official negligence, notices of suspicion have been issued. And there is a strong likelihood that further procedural decisions will follow once all the forensic examinations have been completed," Kovalskyi concluded.
