Human trafficking remains a critical issue in Ukraine, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict and invasion. Recent data shows a concerning increase in cases, with the Prosecutor General's Office reporting 158 individuals suspected and 76 convicted in trafficking-related offenses recently. Vulnerable groups face heightened risks, and authorities have registered 73 proceedings in 2024 alone. International efforts are underway, including the US State Department's inclusion of Russia and Belarus as sponsors of trafficking. Law enforcement continues to dismantle trafficking rings, as evidenced by the crackdown on a baby-selling scheme under surrogate guises. Awareness and decisive actions are vital to curb this crisis and protect potential victims in Ukraine and abroad.
