Georgian government implements "Belarusian scenario" but frightens citizens with mythical "Ukrainian scenario" - Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemns the ongoing human rights violations and the use of force against peaceful demonstrators in Georgia.
This is stated in a statement, Censor.NET reports.
"Violence will not remain without consequences. The Georgian authorities must respect the fundamental right of citizens to peaceful protest. Especially since the reason for the protests is the government's decision to pause Georgia's movement towards the EU, contrary to the European aspirations of the Georgian people.
It is surprising that the Georgian authorities are trying to convince us that the country's European integration is ongoing, while their actions indicate that Georgia is turning toward Moscow. At one time, notorious Ukrainian politicians who tried to turn Ukraine from the path to the EU to the Russian yoke also said that they were only "suspending" rather than curtailing our country's European integration," the ministry said.
They rejected "persistent attempts by the Georgian authorities to drag Ukraine into the internal political processes in their country."
"The Georgian government should stop frightening its people with the mythical 'Ukrainian scenario' while implementing the 'Belarusian scenario' in practice. Ukraine has been and remains committed to democratic transformation in Georgia and its further European and Euro-Atlantic integration, which is in the interests of the Georgian people. In this context, we express our solidarity with our Georgian diplomatic colleagues who publicly opposed the decision of the Georgian government to withdraw from the EU accession negotiations," the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry recalled that in 2004 and 2014, at one of the most critical moments in Ukrainian history, the diplomatic service of Ukraine stood up to defend the democratic choice of the Ukrainian people, so they are well aware of the challenges faced by their Georgian colleagues.
"We are convinced that European integration is the key to stability, prosperity and strengthening of democratic institutions in Georgia and we strive for a successful future for our peoples in the big European family. Our solidarity with the Georgian people remains unwavering," they concluded.
Protests in Georgia
As a reminder, on November 28, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that his country refuses to negotiate EU membership until 2028, as well as any budget grants from the EU.
After that, rallies began in Tbilisi.
Georgian leader Salome Zurabishvili joined the protesters in front of the parliament building in Tbilisi.
The Georgian police brutally dispersed the protesters and made mass arrests.
Earlier, the European Union decided to suspend meetings with representatives of the Georgian government. This is a response to the anti-European actions and rhetoric of the ruling Georgian Dream party.
The EU Ambassador to Georgia, Pawel Gerczynski, said that under the current ruling party , Georgia will never become a member of the European Union.
On the night of November 29-30, 2024, Georgian security forces used force and special equipment to disperse protesters who had gathered on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi. Police detained 107 protesters.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said against the backdrop of the brutal suppression of protests that the country's authorities would not allow a repeat of the Ukrainian Euromaidan scenario.
On Saturday, November 30, thousands of protesters again gathered in Tbilisi against the decision of the ruling Georgian Dream party to abandon negotiations with the EU on accession by 2028. Protests also continue in other cities across the country.
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, who supported the protests in the country, said that the country's parliament is illegitimate, and therefore it will not be able to elect a new president, and her mandate will continue until a new president is elected by a new parliament.
Due to the anti-democratic actions of the government and the Georgian Dream party, the United States suspended its strategic partnership with Georgia.
