The Security Service has detained another Russian agent in the Kyiv region. Acting on orders from the Russian special services, the suspect was registering Starlink satellite terminals for the enemy.

This was reported by Censor.NET, citing the SSU press centre.

A builder from Irpin was working for the enemy

According to the case file, the Russian agent turned out to be a builder from Irpin.

It has been established that, in exchange for the promise of "easy money", the suspect initially registered the Starlink in his own name and passed on the relevant details to his handler.

It has been documented that the agent subsequently registered two more Starlink accounts in the names of his colleague and his colleague’s wife without their knowledge.

"After that, the suspect planned to enlist another 20 acquaintances to verify the Russian terminals," the statement reads.

Arrest

Security Service officers detained the agent at a construction site in Irpin. During searches of his residence, several smartphones were found which he had used to contact ruscists and recruit front men to register Starlink terminals.

According to the case file, the suspect came to the attention of Russian intelligence officers whilst searching for "quick money" on Telegram channels.

  • Investigators from the Security Service informed the agent that he was suspected of an offence under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
  • The suspect is in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
  • Comprehensive measures were carried out by officers of the SSU Main Directorate in Kyiv and the Kyiv region under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
