EU Ambassador Mathernova spent night on bathroom floor during shelling: Enough of this war. PHOTO

EU Ambassador Katarina Mathernova said that she spent the night in the bathroom during Russia's massive strikes on Kyiv.
She posted this on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.
"Night of horror in Ukraine. Russia launched a massive attack on Kyiv and its surroundings. It was terrifying. Incredibly loud night. Their targets were energy infrastructure, railways, residential buildings — and people. Sleeping women and children.
In the village of Pohreby, Brovary district, a young woman born in 1987 and her two children — a 12-year-old girl and a six-month-old baby (!) — were killed when drone debris set their house on fire. In Kyiv, two people died after a residential building was hit, and thirteen others were injured," the diplomat said.
Mathernova said she spent the night on the bathroom floor of her hotel room.
"Sirens wailed without pause. Explosions shook the walls. And I kept thinking only one thing: Enough. Enough of this war. It has lasted too long and drained too much. Every day brings new victims. Every night — new attacks. Ukraine resists, but it is weary and wounded.
Out there, meetings and negotiations are being planned. From Kyiv, they seem endless. Ukrainians invest so much hope into each one — and when hope fades again, the pain deepens," the ambassador added.
At the same time, Mathernova noted, she sees the courage and strength with which Ukraine continues to fight after almost 4 years.
"The European Union remains a steadfast ally. We understand the gravity of this moment. We are not turning away.
We are looking for every way to help Ukraine endure — and to bring peace that is just and lasting," she concluded.
