Zelenskyy on interceptor drone results: Over 150 interceptions in one night

Zelenskyy

During Russia’s mass strike on the night of 7 September, Ukrainian interceptor drones neutralized more than one and a half hundred enemy UAVs.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this in his evening address, Censor.NET writes.

"Over a single night, there were more than 400 Shaheds; the total number of drones in that strike was 810. In other words, almost half were drones the Russians use to complicate the air picture and overload air defense. There were also missiles, including ballistic," the head of state said.

He noted that a significant share was shot down by Ukrainian forces — a substantial result.

"There are results from interceptor drones: over this night, more than one and a half hundred interceptions. Electronic warfare units, Army aviation, mobile fire groups, Air Force fighters, and air-defense units also performed well. Thank you to everyone. Of course, not everything is being shot down yet, and we still need to further strengthen our air defense. This is a priority task. The Russians keep the number of Shaheds in mass strikes at 300–400 per attack; our interceptors must reach a corresponding figure," the president

According to Zelenskyy, this is achievable: production capacity exists, the financing and contracts are in place and being fulfilled, but relevant units need to be scaled up.

"Develop this interceptor technology, roll it out, train the crews — all of this is about saving lives," he added.

Massive attack on the night of 7 September 2025

Earlier, Censor.NET reported that on the morning of 7 September, the enemy launched missile strikes, including threats against Kyiv. Later it became known that following the morning attack, a fire broke out on the top floor of a government building in the Pecherskyi district of Kyiv. Damage to the Cabinet of Ministers building was confirmed by Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.

During the night, the enemy also attacked the capital with drones. A woman and a one-year-old child were killed, and residential buildings sustained damage.

Kryvyi Rih came under a massive combined missile and drone attack, resulting in strikes and a large fire that left three people injured. In Odesa, drone attacks damaged civilian infrastructure and apartment blocks.

Poltava region was also targeted, with attacks on civilian infrastructure and an industrial facility. A bridge across the Dnipro in Kremenchuk was damaged.

According to the Air Force, 4 out of 13 missiles and 747 drones were destroyed.
