Russian strike on SSU building in Kyiv
A Russian UAV struck the Security Service of Ukraine building in central Kyiv.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the enemy UAV struck the office of acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine Oleksandr Poklad. The general was not in his office at the time of the strike.
As of the evening, 15 people were known to have been injured in the Russian attack in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that Russia’s strike on the SSU building was a serious escalation requiring decisive responses.
Following the strike on the SSU, President Zelenskyy met with acting SSU head Oleksandr Poklad and said that preparations were underway for "our active measures in response to Russian strikes."
Witkoff and Kushner’s visit to Kyiv and Moscow
Axios reported that US presidential special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will visit Moscow and Kyiv on 5–6 September for talks on resolving the Russian-Ukrainian war.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later confirmed that US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would visit Ukraine and Russia this weekend. They will arrive in Kyiv on 6 September.
The New York Times reported that the United States is demanding that Ukraine and Russia pause strikes against each other during Witkoff and Kushner’s visit.
NABU is conducting a special operation at the Office of the Prosecutor General
NABU and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) are conducting a special operation to expose a criminal organisation led by an official from the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, which is involved in providing protection for a network of fraudulent call centres and the legalisation of assets.
