FPV drones have become a crucial element in modern warfare, offering tactical advantages on the battlefield in Ukraine. Recently, the use of fibre-optic FPV drones has surged among Russian forces, increasing their operational capabilities in urban and frontline areas. In response, Ukraine's Ministry of Defence has allocated substantial funds, exceeding UAH 44 billion in 2025, to procure and develop these advanced UAVs, including the new Vidmak drones recently authorized for use. The burgeoning FPV drone industry in Ukraine, supported by international allies like Britain and NATO, aims to outpace Russian production. Ukrainian forces have been effectively employing these drones to conduct aerial reconnaissance and precision strikes. As the conflict in the region intensifies, the strategic deployment of FPV drones will be pivotal in shaping military outcomes. This rapid advancement highlights the pressing need for technical expertise and manufacturing capacity to maintain superiority in drone warfare.
